DIY: riri inspired Levi's shorts

Here is a DIY for a fashion friend inspired by Riri and Levis.

I love Levi’s AND I love Rihanna so I couldn’t have been happier with my CustoMYze inspired by Levi’s brief this week! Here’s how to DIY a pair of Levi’s black high-waisted skinny jeans into ‘Shine Bright Like A Diamond’ a la Rihanna short shorts!  Just in time for the Riri concert yay!
Okay this is what you need:
-Levi's high waisted black skinny jeans R899.00
-some inexpensive costume jewellery you love
-a needle and thread
-sharp scissors
-a bar of soap
-colourful nail polish
-fabric glue (if your not a confident sewer)

Step ONE - Cutting
Time to turn your pair of Levi Jeans into a pair of short shorts.
First put on your jeans and grab your bar of soap. Decide where you would like your shorts end, using your bar of soap mark a line.
Cut roughly 2.5cm away from your line. Once you have done one leg simply fold your jeans over and cut the other leg, this will help ensure that both sides are equal.

Step TWO - Hemming

It's now time to hem your shorts. You can use fabric glue to glue down your hem instead of sewing. I chose to use some metallic thread and did big stitches.
Make a double fold and do large stiches along your hem line. Be careful not to pull your stitches to tight because your Levi's are stretch denim.

Step THREE - Bejewelling

For my costume jewellery I used two matching necklaces and a bracelet. Make sure you get jewlery with small holes so that you are able to thread them onto your jeans.
Use your colourful nail polish to paint some of the gems.
After the nail polish has dried break up the necklaces and bracelet into loose pieces.
Next layout the jewels in a pattern. Sew the first leg of jewels on. For this use thread the same colour as your Levi's jeans, in my case black. After you have completed the first leg sew the jewels on the second side creating a symmetrical pattern.
Add stitching around the pockets for extra detail!
Step FOUR – Wear & shine bright like a diamond!
Slide these bad boys on and enjoy!
